In 2018, Finavia investigated potential pathogen hotspots at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, and the “dirtiest” spot turned out to be the hand luggage bins used in security screening.
Even toilet seats ranked second. Led Future Oy has installed 12 UVC light-based disinfection systems at Helsinki-Vantaa, which have so far disinfected over 10 million hand luggage bins.
The cost of disinfection per bin, including all expenses (purchase, maintenance, and operating costs), is less than €0.02 per bin.
